Covid Spring Boosters

The NHS is now offering Spring Boosters to people aged 75 and over, care home residents and people with weakened immune systems. This follows the recommendation from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) that an extra dose should be offered to these groups to make sure those at greatest risk continue to have high levels of protection against COVID-19.

If you are eligible for an extra booster, we will contact you when it is your turn with details of how to make an appointment (usually by text message with a direct link to book an appointment). People are being prioritised according to when they had their previous booster and clinical need. If you had your last vaccine in early October we now invite you to contact the surgery to book your appointment.

Everyone who is eligible will be contacted between 21 March and early Summer, depending on when they had their last booster.

You may also receive a letter or text from the NHS National Booking Service inviting you to book an appointment so you can choose to do this if you prefer or wait for us to contact you. If you haven’t had your previous booster, you can visit www.nhs.uk/covid-booster or call 119 to book an appointment at Dewsbury Health Centre or the vaccination centre of your choosing.

We plan to operate booster clinics on Saturdays throughout April and May. Any care home residents or homebound patients will be visited by the practice to administer the booster vaccine – we will be in touch with you to arrange a date for this.
